Istanbul Airport taxi

Book your taxi from Istanbul Airport (IST) to the city, or from the city to the airport, in advance. The fare is what the taximeter shows.

How long does it take from the airport to the city?

Istanbul Airport is on the European side, north of the city. Taksim is about 40 km away and Sultanahmet about 50 km.

The ride usually takes 45–75 minutes depending on traffic, and can take longer in the evening rush.

Taksim and Beyoğlu: about 40 km
Sultanahmet and the old city: about 50 km. Some hotels are in pedestrian streets; the car stops at the closest point.
Kadıköy and the Asian side: longer, because the route crosses the Bosphorus and a bridge or tunnel toll is added.

How is the fare calculated?

The fare is the amount on the taximeter under Istanbul's official (UKOME) tariff: an opening fee, a rate per kilometre and a time rate when the car is stopped in traffic.

Bridge, tunnel and motorway tolls are not included and are paid separately. The amount shown on this site is an estimate.
